Length of Position: Minimum 2 weeks, maximum 12 weeks

Description:
Scholarships Available for February, March and April 2009. Email us for scholarship details and the application form. Live and work in rural areas teaching English and Math in village schools. Volunteers are placed in local schools from kindergarten to high schools, rural schools and also with special needs children in the area. This program offers volunteers an opportunity to make a difference in the life of children from poor and rural communities. This is the most hands on program with volunteers given full responsibility to conduct classes and educational activities.

Volunteers are placed in local schools and with non-profit agencies working in the field of education. There are also opportunities for working with mentally challenged children and orphanages. - Teach and interact with children in a school for mentally challenged kids - Teach in village schools; from kindergarten to high school - Volunteer in local orphanages - Get involved in teaching and remedial education programs in surrounding villages Where is the program located? We have several villages outside Mumbai. Locations include Pen, Lonavala, Kamshet and Karla. All these are located between Mumbai and Pune which are two major metropolitan areas. The settings are idyllic with hills, valleys, historic sites and popular trekking routes. Most of these areas are conveniently located and well connected with Mumbai, Pune and Goa.
Qualifications:
No prior teaching experience or other training required. This program is open to all levels of students and professionals who want to volunteer and learn about India. Participants must be over 18 years of age easygoing and flexible. Individual or groups of students can apply to the program.

Cost Include Description:
Pre-departure orientation and support, airport pickup, transport to placement, work support and monitoring, 24 Hour emergency support, personal cellular phone.
