Length of Position: 1 month - 1 year

Description:
Live with a Spanish family and teach your native language (English, German, French or Italian), in exchange for room and board. You will generally be asked to work an average of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, providing lessons and conversation in your native language. This may be more or less formal, depending upon the family. You will have weekends and the rest of the time free to sightsee, learn about Spanish culture and make new friends!

You will be given a single room and meals at your host familys house, in exchange for your work.

Orientation:
We will send you pre-departure orientation materials to help prepare you for your time in Spain, and give you suggestions on teaching ESL. We also recommend researching ESL teaching methods and lesson plans so that you are ready when you arrive at your host familys house.

Network of Friends:
Throughout your stay, you will be provided with the name and email addresses of the other Language Assistants in your area. This offers you an instant network of people you can ask advice from, socialize with, or travel around Spain with.

Qualifications:
* Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30
* Participants must be able to get a tourist visa to Spain
* Participants must be a native speaker of English, German, French, Italian or Mandarin Chinese. (Please note that if you would like to teach Mandarin, you must hold an American passport due to visa restrictions.)
* Participants must have finished high school
* Preferably, participants should have either their Teaching certification or previous experience
* Participants do not need to speak Spanish
