U.S. English Language Teaching Assistantships

Length of Position: 9 months

Description: This program places about 130 U.S. teaching assistants at secondary schools in all nine Austrian provinces.

Qualifications: The purpose of this program is to provide recent university graduates, who are U.S. citizens, the opportunity to work as English language teaching assistants at secondary schools throughout Austria for a maximum of two years. The Austrian Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture expects all applicants for this program to be native speakers of English. Successful candidates must complete a bachelor's degree before they start teaching in Austria and ideally be interested in careers in education or public service. Applications for the 2009-10 school years will be due on February 15, 2009.
