Description:
This weekend TEFL course is an intensive, introductory course providing an overview of techniques, methods and practical ideas designed to enable participants to 'survive' in the language classroom and enjoy the delights of teaching English as a foreign language. Whether you are going overseas with the sole purpose of teaching English, working on conservation projects or just travelling around this course will be of great benefit and enjoyment. What will you get out of the course: - A bank of techniques, skills and materials for use in the classroom - A basic understanding of language - Increased confidence - Improved communication and interpersonal skills - An enthusiasm that might lead onto further, more intensive TEFL courses for teachers - A GVI attendance certificate What can we cover in a weekend: You will be surprised how much can be covered in one weekend. The course aims to bring together your previous experiences and learning and combine them with innovative and practical English teaching methodologies. By the end of the course you will be familiar with a wide range technique and be armed with practical ideas and materials for that all-important and often daunting first day in the classroom. Course contents: - Basic classroom management skills - Foreign language lesson - Grammar workshops - Lesson planning - Teaching the 4 skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) - Pronunciation teaching - Video observation - Error correction and mistake management - Using games and communicative activities - Advice on teaching English and volunteering overseas
