Teach in Thailand placements are available at either Primary or Secondary schools in a wide range of locations throughout Thailand. Placements are driven by the demand for English-speaking teachers and the requirements of each host institution, so CIEE cannot guarantee to honor your placement requests. Orientation All Teach in Thailand participants receive a week-long orientation in Bangkok upon arrival. Conducted by CIEE partner organization staff and local experts, the orientation program will provide you with important cultural and practical information to help you adapt to life in Thailand. Some local sightseeing, housing, and meals are included. The training course will give you the resources you need to be an effective teacher and will help you develop essential skills for teaching English as a Foreign Language in Thailand. Employment Teach in Thailand placements are at either Primary or Secondary schools with the option of teaching at both levels in many institutions. Please consider which level would best suit you in terms of the students' ages and level of English. Participants mostly teach English, however there may be the opportunity to teach other subjects depending on your academic background. A typical teaching load is 22 classes per week, depending on the school. In addition to actual time spent in the classroom, participants are expected to devote time to class planning, presentations, faculty meetings, and a modicum of extra-curricular activities. Participants should assume a 35-40 work week. In return, you will receive: - A a minimum of 11,000 Baht per month (12,000 Baht per month in the Bangkok metropolitan area) - A free flight home from Thailand (one-way) provided by the host institution if you successfully complete a continuous 10-month contract (academic year) - Housing is provided free of charge by host institutions to all participants of the Teach in Thailand program. Accommodations will be in the 'foreign visitors' quarters, usually on campus. All accommodations have heat and some have air conditioning. Most include a fully furnished bedroom, sitting room, bathroom, and access to shared cooking facilities. Qualifications:
To be eligible to Teach English in Thailand you need: * A Bachelor's degree in any major by the time of departure. No language or teaching experience is required. * Excellent spoken and written English skills. Non-native speakers of any nationality may apply providing that they have near-native English * Good organizational skills, creative flair and imagination * To be flexible, resourceful and adaptable to new and unfamiliar situations * To be under the age of 65 * To be in excellent physical and mental health, able to live for an extended period of time overseas * To be enthusiastic about teaching * To commit to the program for either 5 or 10 months and be willing to pay the program fee The program fees*: USD 1,325 for 5 months USD 1,575 for 10 months *- covers administration and placement service - 7 day orientation in Bangkok - insurance - 24-hour in-country emergency support services - pre-departure advice & handbook - transportation from orientation to your host institution
