Summer Volunteer Teacher in Poland

Description:
WorldTeach Poland volunteers will spend the summer in rural areas surrounding small cities. Mainly high school students, but occasionally some middle school or even elementary school students participate in the "Wakacje z angielskim" (or "Vacation with English") summer program. Class size will vary between 10 and 15 students. Volunteers will be responsible for teaching conversational English, basic grammar, and some lessons on American culture. Classes are open to the entire community, allowing students with a wide range of preexisting English skills to participate. Through the support of WorldTeach volunteers, students' have the opportunity to improve their understanding of American culture and to engage in community projects. Outside of the classroom, volunteers will have many opportunities to experience both traditional and modern Polish life. Trips to major cultural sites in the region and celebrations with host communities supplement the program, particularly during the orientation, mid-service, and end-of-service conferences when the group convenes.

* English language fluency * Teaching or volunteer experience * Demonstrated commitment to service and international development * Flexibility and an open mind * Willingness to live with a host family * Ability to work independently * Interest in teaching, community participation, and development are encouraged.

Cost in US$: $3,990
Cost Include Description:
Cost includes roundtrip international airfare from US departure city to site in Poland and back, health and emergency insurance while in-country, one week in-country orientation offering an introduction to ESL training, Polish language, health, safety and culture, transportation, meals and housing during orientation and term of service, and in-service conferences in other parts of Poland.
