Description: Volunteers spend 6-16 weeks in Guatemala or El Salvador.

HELP volunteers have the opportunity to create their own volunteer. Examples of previous work include building homes, working in orphanages and health clinics, building community water systems, planting gardens, teaching English, or teaching computer classes. This entrepreneurial aspect is perhaps the best thing about the HELP experience. Volunteers go into communities and discuss needs with local leaders, designing the projects themselves according to the needs of the people.

HELP International is a catalyst for social entrepreneurs, giving volunteers the flexibility and resources to help local families and organizations design solutions to the problems they face. We believe that meeting the needs of the people in a manner that respects their priorities, knowledge, and skills will help us have a long-term, continuous, effect on poverty.

Typical Volunteer: college age, undergraduate, self-motivated, able to work in diverse settings, able to live and work with others
