Using progressive, internationally accepted techniques in secondary education, curriculum development, and practical application, the school strives to empower students with the creative and personal skills necessary to become responsible leaders in a modern, democratic and free-market society. - The Orchlon School teaches the following subjects in English, providing a complete foreign language-learning experience: Art (Grades 1-3), Science (Grades 3-8), Health (Grades 4-6), Geography (Grades 5-9), Social Studies (Grades 9-11) and TOEFL preparation (Grades 9-11). - English as a Foreign Language is taught to all students in small classes based on ability level, with a focus on individual language improvement. - The school library contains nearly 15,000 books, audio and video recordings, and other teaching aids. - All school textbooks--published in the United Kingdom, the United States and Singapore--meet international educational standards. Foreign language materials include a series of student textbooks, workbooks and teacher manuals. - Mandarin Chinese is taught as a foreign language starting from Grade 4. - Computer classes are conducted in a new computer lab, which includes 24 networked computers and Internet access. - The Orchlon School emphasizes the importance of homework, projects and independent study in developing student creativity. Class materials and the Internet are always available for student coursework. - Students in Grades 4-5 receive computer art instruction with Paint, while Grade 8 students learn graphic design using the program AutoCAD.
Highlights:
The Orchlon School follows a single-shift schedule, 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Extracurricular activities include: piano, dance, swimming, painting, design, English club, TOEFL preparation, Mandarin Chinese, and after-school tutoring in math, physics, chemistry and biology. Library and Internet resources are also available for student academic use. * Private piano lessons are available to students in Grades 1-3. * Physical education includes dance, swimming (Grades 1-11) and team sports (Grades 4-11.) * The school features a student cafeteria that provides healthy meals in a clean dining atmosphere.
