Dates: See website for dates
Description:
Improve the lives of Peru's poorest children when you volunteer with our Teach English to Street Kids Program. Latin America has more street children per capita than any place on earth, according to UNICEF. The problem is particularly acute in Peru, where there are an estimated 400,000 homeless children in the capital city of Lima alone. These children live in extreme poverty. Education is a distant priority in the day-to-day struggle for survival. As a volunteer with our Teach English to Street Kids Program, you will help these children develop basic English skills. Knowing English will allow these children to participate in Peru's tourism industry and move forward in life. Your work will take you to small community centers, orphanages, or shelters for street children, where you will assist a full-time teacher who has developed a long-term relationship with the children. Your base will be Cusco, a city rich in ecological and historical treasures. You will experience the finest in Peru's culture while serving the poorest of Peru's citizens.

Volunteer Adventures's Mission Statement: The mission of Volunteer Adventures is to create and promote volunteer opportunities that improve the lives of others and the environment in which we live. We seek to achieve this goal by connecting worthy local projects with volunteers around the world.
Many local organizations are doing great work in their communities, but don't have the resources required to recruit international volunteers. Volunteer Adventures serves as the link between these organizations and the volunteers needed to make these projects a success.
All volunteer programs depend on the skilled coordination of a variety of elements: enthusiastic volunteers, meaningful work, organized projects, and supportive staff. It is our goal at Volunteer Adventures to orchestrate this process for you. We use our global experience and resources to provide volunteer experiences that bring pride and satisfaction to everyone involved.
