Length of Position: One year

Description: Teacher's Duties
Prepare lesson plans, teach English language classes, assign and correct homework, testing, participate in staff meetings, and, etc... The number of regular teaching hours ranges from 95~120 per month.

Salary
Salary varies from school to school but it usually ranges from 2.0 million won to 2.5 million won based on working hours, qualification and experience. If it is higher, they may have some hidden things, say your work load is higher than regular contract, salary includes housing allowance, you need to commute and need to pay transportation expenses etc...

Overtime
Each hour in excess of regular teaching hours will be considered as overtime. 18,000~25,000 won will be paid per hour.

Severance Payment
After the 1-year contract is done, the teacher will receive a severance payment. The full payment of one month salary will be given to the teacher. (Ex. 2.0 million won if your salary is 2.0M).

Medical Insurance
Employee will be covered by medical benefits under the Korean National Health Insurance, a Government Health Organization. The costs of this coverage will be borne half by employer and half by employee. The policy will be primarily for major expenses, that is, the major portion of the cost of a treatment will be paid by the policy and you will have to pay small part of the cost. Health care costs in Korea are much less expensive than many other countries. A typical visit to the doctor, including medicine, will cost less than $20 in USD.

Deductions from Salary
1. Income Tax: Current rate is 4~7% of your salary depending on how much you make each month.
2. National Pension Scheme: Current rate is 9% (4.5% will be deducted from teacher's salary and another 4.5% will be paid by employer)
3. National Health Insurance: Current rate is 4.48% (2.24% will be deducted from teacher's salary and another 2.24% will be paid by employer)
4. Housing Deposit: Generally between 400,000 won~900,000 won depending on school's policy (usually deducted from first three months salaries but may be negotiable).

- This deposit is to cover any unpaid monthly service, utility, telephone charges and etc. at the completion of contract and employer agrees that payment of remaining amounts of the deposit will be made to employee at the end of contract period after all outstanding monthly service, utility, and telephone charges have been paid.

Transportation
The Employer will purchase for the teacher an economy class ticket from the closest international airport of point of hire to Korea. After completing the one-year contract, the teacher will be provided with a return ticket. If a teacher buys a ticket on his or her own, the teacher will be reimbursed the amount upon arrival at the school.

Housing
Housing is usually located near the school for the teacher's convenience. The school shall provide furnished single accommodation or shared apartment with two or three-bedroom (which is shared by two or three teachers with a private bedroom for each teacher and a shared kitchen and bathroom). Furnishings provided by the Employer include; blanket, pillow, television, toaster, bed, kitchen table, chairs, two-burner gas hot plate, refrigerator, wardrobe, telephone, washing machine and etc.. Selection of apartments will be made by the Employer. The cost of monthly services, utilities, and telephone charges for the accommodations provided will be paid by the teacher. In the case of a shared apartment, costs will be shared by both teachers.

Vacation and Holidays
Your employer is obligated to observe all national holidays - 9~13 days per year depending on which day it falls on. In addition, most of the schools, there would be 7~12 days of school vacation time per year as dictated by the schools' calendar, such as Christmas, New Years holiday, summer vacation etc. Regardless of the number of vacation and holidays that fall during any given teaching session, your monthly salary is guaranteed.

Sick Leave
The teacher is permitted up to three to six days of paid sick leave when the teacher is unable to attend class due to illness. He or she is required to notify the employer and submit an accompanying proof of illness from a physician.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any major
Citizen of one of the following countries:

Required documents:
1. 4 passport-sized photos
2. A valid passport
3. Original University degree or a notarized (by a local Korean consulate) copy of original university degree
4. An official sealed transcript with a university stamp and/or a signature of certification officer (academic advisor) across the flap on the back of the envelope.
5. Criminal Background Record with an apostille certificate
6. Applicants Health Statement (will be provided)
