Description: International Educators for Africa Program

The International Educators for Africa (IEFA) program is an initiative of the International Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH) in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), private donors and various corporations.

The IEFA program invites applications from teachers, college and university professors, and school administrators, who wish to volunteer their teaching expertise for one academic year to improve the quality of education in sub-Saharan Africa.

Since 1992, IFESH has placed nearly 1,400 American volunteer educators in primary and secondary schools, teacher-training colleges and universities, and government educational agencies. Qualified applicants should have a least 3 years teaching experience. Educators who are fluent in French are strongly encouraged to apply for positions in Senegal, Djibouti, Code dIvoire, and Guinea.

Educators with backgrounds in teacher-training, monitoring and evaluation, educational administration, curriculum development, computer science, mathematics, pedagogical skills, ESL, public health, HIV/AIDS awareness, computer science, information technology, early childhood education, women gender, and adult literacy are urgently needed to teach in Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, Liberia, Ethiopia, and Nigeria.
