Live, Learn & Teach in the USA with Amity Institute!

Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring 
Length of Position: Full School Year or 1 Semester
Dates: From mid August 2010 to mid June 2011

Description: The Amity Intern Teacher Program focuses on 3 main components:

Cultural Immersion - Interns live with an American Host Family, on-campus, or independently. Interns see the US, make new friends and begin a life changing adventure!

Learning - Interns gain valuable international teaching experience, learn about American culture, participate in the community, and significantly improve English skills. Internships may vary in length with a maximum stay of 1 year.

Teaching - Interns assist a foreign language teacher in the classroom for approximately 32 hours a week, share language and culture with students of all ages, and can fulfill their own university requirement of a teaching internship in an English speaking country.

Qualifications: In order to qualify for the program, applicants must be:

* Students currently enrolled in higher education
* or recent graduates (not longer than 12 month prior to program begin)
* Students who are considering a career in teaching
* Students with at least conversational English skills - higher levels preferred
* Students who are at least 20 years old

    Cost to the Interns:
    * Application fee USD 50 (non-refundable)
    * Visa application fee. Please inquire at your local US Embassy/Consulate.
    * SEVIS fee USD 180
    * Round-trip airline ticket - Varies by location and season
    * Health insurance coverage USD 70 per month (average)
    * Personal spending money USD 150 per month
    * If choosing independent living - approx. USD 600 per month

    Salary / Pay: Stipend USD 150 per month, minimum

    Participants Travel to United States Independently

    Typically Participants Work in Groups of 10 or more; under the supervision of a certified teacher or Independently.
