Primary Teachers for International Schools in China
China
- All Other Areas in China:
Suzhou,
Wuxi
Length of Position: 2 years
Description:
These international schools are a group of privately owned pre-school and primary schools established in 1995 and now totalling 9 schools (including a Japanese Pre-School and a 450 student international primary school that is a fully authorized IBPYP school) plus a tertiary teacher education centre in Singapore, 7 schools in China and a new school due to open this year in Jakarta, Indonesia. Headquarters are in Singapore. The schools and centres cater to more than 2,000 students from over 40 different countries. Staff is similarly an international group of educators (from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, India and the US). The company is owned by a Singaporean couple who lived for a while in the UK with their 2, at the time young, children and who were so greatly impressed by the UK Early Years system that they wanted to replicate this in schools in Singapore. They are a well established and respected Singaporean company that has expanded rapidly in China. Wuxi: The campus in Wuxi is 7000sqm and fit out to a high international standard. It can hold up to 400 students. They require a teacher in Y2 and one in Y3 to cater for these increased numbers for September. It is an exciting opportunity to join a school committed to collaborative working and child-centred curriculum development at the start of its development. We have quickly established a very good reputation in the rapidly expanding expat population in Wuxi. Wuxi is less than 1 hour by train from Shanghai. There are also further primary teaching opportunities in other campuses including: - Part time or full time Music/ Art and/or Drama Teacher for Nursery to Year 6 (or even Year 9) Aug 08 The post would be to cover Music teaching across the school from aged 3 up to 13 - they plan to have 8 classes next year, although 4 of them will have children aged 3 to 7. It would also involve some instrumental tuition. They hope to be able, eventually, to start an orchestra and/or a choir. Ideally they are looking for someone that could also teach Art and/or Drama across the school. If not, if that person could provide cover in other curricular areas to give the class teachers some non-contact time, that would also be acceptable. All applicants should be very child-centred and wanting to work in a team as well as being a good teacher.
