AIPT Teach USA

  United States

Length of Position: Up to 36 months

Description: With a J-1 visa and AIPT Teacher sponsorship, a participant may teach for up to 36 months in a primary or secondary school in the United States. Throughout the program, AIPT serves as a resource for both the employer and participant, and ensures program compliance. Upon completion of the teaching assignment, the participant must return home. It is the intent of the program that the participant benefit from the experience in the United States to further his or her career in the home country.

Highlights: Coming to the United States gives foreign teachers an opportunity to learn the American style of teaching, classroom management and methods of implementing special programs for diverse populations. This international experience can provide teachers with greater empathy for second-language learners immersed in a different culture, thus preparing them to better serve international students in their home countries. They will also learn more about the priority American schools place on ensuring that each student reaches specific achievement goals.

In addition to observing and practicing American teaching methods, the teachers may bring new perspectives to classroom instruction. And, of course, those who are certified to teach their country's language can offer U.S. students the benefit of learning from a native speaker.

An additional highlight to mention is the importance of the cultural exchange that takes place during these experiences.
