Length of Position: 1 year contract

Description: We are seeking dynamic innovative Elementary School Teachers for Reception Year/Kindergarden/Grade 0/Grade RR (the year before Grade 1) to Grade 8 to teach in the beautiful coastal town of Pemba, which is located in the northern part of Mozambique, Africa.

We are an emergent international school of 2 years who accommodate children from Grades 0-8. Together our Teachers and Children represent 12 nationalities.

We provide a friendly and open atmosphere where everyone can grow and expand in a positive and caring environment.

We follow the Cambridge Curriculum and materials.

Currently our class sizes are very small accommodating less than 10 students per grade, therefore a teacher might be required to teach more than one grade.

Teaching materials will be provided.

Language of Instruction: English, an ability to speak Portuguese would be an advantage. It is important to note that for many of children English is not their home language.

Teaching Schedule:
5 days per week (Monday through Friday)
Working hours are 07h15 to 15h00 daily.

Compensation:
This is a volunteer position, for an Elementary Teacher (with an Educational Qualification). We will pay a Stipend of USD 600 per month. Please note that even though we have given a USD stipend amount above, we will pay all teachers in Meticais, the offical currency of Mozambique.

Contract:
The initial contract is for 1 year of teaching. The ideal commitment will run from January through December 2010. We are however currently seeking applications from individuals who are available on April 2010.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood Education.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Personal Requirements:
* Bachelors degree with Teaching Certificate preferable
* Dedicated to Early Childhood Education & enjoys working with children
* Enthusiastic, dynamic & creative
* Professionalism, organizational abilities, good communication skills & a team player
* Ability to work in a rural environment with limited resources

Salary / Pay: The Elementary Teacher position is a volunteer position with a stipend of 500.00/600.00 USD per month depending on qualifications and experience.
