Live With a Family in Peru and Teach Them English
Peru
Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Monthly, on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
Description:
Geovisions' Conversation Corps provides English conversationalists the opportunity to live with a Spanish speaking Peruvian family and teach them English. This is a unique way to experience living in your teaching environment as the members of your host family are also your "students". In this adventure, it is up to you to meet the challenge of providing fun and dynamic ways to tutor the family in English after they come from their days at school and work. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation! Meanwhile, you get to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture. Thanks to a focus on the exchange of cultures, you will be experiencing the rich history, landscape, and cuisine of Peru while your host family enjoys learning English from you. Conversation Corps volunteers will receive instruction on how to teach English, with specific activities that can be applied in an intimate home setting. GeoVisions also includes an orientation upon your arrival and transportation to your host family. Duties and Responsibilities include: * Teaching the host family English up to 15 hours a week Monday to Friday * Come up with creative, fun, and informative lesson plans * Keep your room tidy and clean * Respect host family's rules and habits * Manage your own personal expenses (telephone bills, clothing, entertainment and spending money) * Helping children with their English homework * Play games in English with the children * Create and teach educational games and activities All GeoVisions programs include accommodation. Most include meals, airport pick-up, project training, in-country support, extensive medical and accident insurance, extensive pre-departure information and onsite project orientation.
