  • Bangkok

  • Saraburi

Length of Position: 3-12 months

Description: Includes training course with TEFL certificate and monthly salary

This paid teaching English program is a fantastic way to experience the real Thailand, immerse yourself in Thai culture, and get a chance to make friends with Thai people.

You will attend teacher training and earn a TEFL certificate during your first 4 weeks. The teacher training will provide you with the necessary English teaching theories, techniques and practice in an intercultural context. You will also learn basic Thai language skills and essential knowledge of Thai culture.

After orientation and teacher training, you will start with your placement, which may be anywhere in Thailand. Most placements are close to larger cities, like Bangkok. Most teaching positions are in private schools teaching children ages 8-16. You will teach for approximately 20-30 hours per week and will receive a monthly salary between 14,000 and 24,000 Thai Baht (about USD400-680 USD).

Accommodations:

During the introduction and training period you will be living and training at a camp located on the riverside in the village of Tha-kan, 9 miles from the small cities of Singburi and Tha-chang and 74 miles north of Bangkok.

You will be accommodated in one of 3 Eco Houses. The houses sleep from 20 to 50 people. Rooms are single gender, dormitory style with 3 to 12 beds per room. All houses have western style toilets and showers with cool water nice and refreshing in the heat. Communal areas within the house are where you will have your meals and relax with your new friends. Meals are included during the 4-week training period and consist of typical Thai fare, including plenty of rice dishes.

After the training period you can either live in your own accommodations or with a host family. Participants are expected to cover their own living expenses after the course.
