Description:
The International School of Kabul, (ISK), has been founded to support the rebuilding and development of Afghanistan by serving four major groups: Afghan families who are returning from living outside the country, the international aid community, the diplomatic community and international business families. The school is operated as a joint project of PeaceBridge International and Oasis International Schools, which are both based in the United States. Oasis and its partners operate schools around the world. ISK offers an international curriculum that is designed around U.S. materials and programs, resulting in an American diploma. Accreditation will be applied for with the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. All instruction is in English, and our teachers are highly qualified and experienced; ESL classes are available to those who need additional English instruction. The staff's first priority is caring for the child while they are providing top-quality education. Our school year begins in September and concludes in June. We conduct classes from Saturday through Wednesday. Major Afghan and U.S holidays are observed. ISK, initially known as Kabul International Academy (KIA), began oper ation in 2003 by offering elementary level classes. The initial enrollment of 8 students grew to 22 by the end of the first year. 2004-2005 began with 60 students and ended with 71, and the 2005-2006 school year enrolled over 150 students. ISK is currently housed in temporary facilities located in the Karte Char area. Our hope is to begin the development of a permanent school site. We look forward to providing a quality education. There were 10 different countries represented in the student body during our first year of operation. You will find that we provide a positive, secure environment where students learn to live together and support one another. If you are looking for a family atmosphere with a commitment to academic excellence, then we may be the school for you.
