We need Volunteers urgently who can start immediately.

Are you a person with a passion to work with children? Are you enthusiastic, adventurous, flexible and do you have a big heart and a lot of compassion?

We are looking at recruiting 5 volunteers to work with our partner organizations.

Touchwood is located in the Blue Mountain ranges in South India. We are looking for individuals who can teach, involve in community development and overall child welfare. They will live and work at our partner schools.

Our children would welcome you as a refreshing change. The students you will teach are from elementary to high school.

You will be involved with the school in any one or more of the positions of an
* English teacher
* Dance teacher
* Physical training instructor
* Arts teacher
* Music / Drama teacher
* Sports coach
* Volunteers who can be flexible and resourceful will be given higher preference.
Though experience is preferred, we believe that those with a passion can contribute equally to such a position.
* You can teach children the basics of health and hygiene while also contributing your skills and knowledge to assist the local teachers in their daily work.

Highlights:
Touchwood Ecological & Social Foundation is a registered non-profit operating its own Tribal Healthcare Center in the Masinagudi jungles where we offer free healthcare facilities to the tribals and non tribals of the same socio-economic status.

While we aim to build a 20 bed hospital by the end of 2010 to help serve the tribals in a better way, we are also mooting other development projects in order to help create sustainable livelihood options.

All revenue generated by these and other programs of Touchwood will be utilized towards these projects.

Touchwood and its partners are based in the beautiful mountain ranges of the Nilgiris in the Western Ghats in South India. The Nilgiris district is one of the few hotspots in the world where there is rare co-existence of unmatched flora and fauna. There are a lot of hiking trails and pristine jungles which offer a lot in terms of sightseeing and wildlife.

Volunteers / interns get to take alternate weekends off (subject to the approval of the immediate supervisor at Touchwood) and can explore the local areas and the nearby states of Kerala and Karnataka which offer a lot of tourist destinations.

Apart from the above, the highlights of this program are:

* The amount of time you choose to volunteer / intern is flexible.
* Program lengths ranging from a minimum of 2 months onward.
* This volunteer / intern opportunity can be for a non-academic or academic interest.
* All candidates who have sought to receive credit for this program have done so.
* Project orientation and counseling upon arrival.

The cost of the program covers the following:

* Pick up at Coimbatore airport / railway station .
* Drop off at Coimbatore airport / railway station.
* All project related expenses.
* Food - 2 delicious south Indian meals everyday is included.
* Housing - Accommodation on a twin sharing basis at place of work.
* You will gain valuable international work experience to add to your resume/CV.

Qualifications:
All programs of Touchwood Ecological and Social Foundation are for people with a positive attitude and for those who are looking for a fulfilling experience while volunteering abroad.

The position described here are with our partner organizations. One is a Matriculation School near Ooty and the other is a convent cum orphanage near Kotagiri.

In addition to education, expertise and talents, our selection of volunteers / interns is based on the following qualities:

Preference is given to people who embrace a team concept, often working with 2-3 people at one time. This is an excellent way to contribute valuable, international work experience to your resume / CV while also providing the opportunity for gaining meaningful insights and personal fulfillment.

We would prefer to have experienced teachers. However, we believe that those with a passion, right attitude and a lot compassion for the underprivileged can also do an equally good job.

This Program is open to American, Asian, Australian, Canadian, European, Kiwi, South African and Worldwide Participants.
