Live with an Austrian Family and Teach them English
Austria
Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Year round
Description:
GeoVisions' Conversation Corps provides English conversationalists a chance to live with a Austria family and teach them English. Because of the close proximity of the "students" this will be an amazing adventure of living in your teaching environment. This is a high-energy position. The parents have been working all day and the children have been in school but you still need to come up with fun and enthusiastic ways to teach them English. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation! This is a great program for people who want to experience life in Austria and the Austrian culture in-depth. The program has a focus on cultural exchange and host families are not only excited to learn English but also love to share the characteristics of their amazing country, culture and cuisine. Duties and Responsibilities Include: * Teaching the host family English up to 15 hours a week Monday to Friday. * Come up with creative, fun and informative lesson plans. * Keep your room tidy and clean. * Respect host family's rules and habits. * Manage your own personal expenses (telephone bills, clothing, entertainment and spending money). * Helping children with their English homework. * Play games in English with the children. * Create and teach educational games and activities.
Highlights:
* Personalized Volunteer Placement with a host family through our Partner in Austria, including all the coordination, in-person visits and communication necessary with the local organization. * Your orientation by a local coordinator. * A comfortable, safe place to live in Austria, your own private room, all of your meals, and transportation from the airport to your host family. * An experienced U.S. based GeoVisions Program Manager (and former volunteer with GeoVisions) who will serve as your coordinator and liaison with our in-country staff in Austria. * In-country basic language assistance and (optional) language classes. * Professional, locally-based staff to provide orientation, supervision and guidance throughout your stay. * Extensive medical, accident and dental insurance along with emergency evacuation insurance, applicable to GeoVisions' participants worldwide. * Important documents, including in-depth pre-departure packs, orientation information, and all in-country informational materials. * A toll-free 24-hour emergency hotline in the U.S. * Our own text book, A Tutor's Guide--Teaching English To Families and Children. * Premium membership at the esl-lounge. * Two-months membership at Pongo Resume. * The President's Volunteer Service Award including a lapel pen, letter from the President of The United States and certificate.
