Connecting Schools to the World
Argentina
Length of Position: 4 months minimum
Description:
Participants will be placed into English teaching positions throughout Argentina, and primarily in the rural towns throughout Cordoba province. Teachers work a four-day work week and have the weekends available for travel. A monthly stipend is provided to cover living expenses, but the cost of living is extremely low while living with the homestay. Teachers are provided with lodging and three meals a day by the family. Teachers may be placed into a wide range of age groups as well as both public schools and private institutes.
Highlights:
The primary highlight of Connecting Schools is the authenticity and cultural experience that it provides. By placing teachers in smaller towns it allows for them to connect more with both their home-stays and the members of their community. After several weeks participants frequently feel very at home and a part of life in the town. Spanish classes are provided to participants, and most leave the program very near fluency regardless of their level upon arrival. The four-day work week provides for weekends available for travel. A two week training course in Buenos Aires is provided as well. The level of authenticity and immersion that is attained through the dynamics of this program can simply not be replicated by the large companies that place teachers in Buenos Aires and other large cities.

Connecting Schools to the World's Mission Statement: Connecting Schools seeks to place native English speakers in teaching positions throughout rural Argentina. The majority of our placements are in Cordoba Province, but they are not limited to only Cordoba. The program offers an unparalleled level of authentic immersion by placing teachers into home-stays in small towns that facilitate the immersion process. Our teachers make great strides in language acquisition. Teachers have the opportunity to learn Spanish through the immersive process and connect with the members of their local community. After several weeks most teachers feel extremely connected and at home in their communities. This is a dynamic that large programs that place teachers in Buenos Aires and other large cities struggle to duplicate. Teachers may teach students of all ages and in both public and private environments.
