United Arab Emirates
- Other Cities in United Arab Emirates:
Abu Dhabi
Length of Position: 1 - 2 year contracts
Description:
This is a post mentoring local Arab teachers in an exciting school reform project in Abu Dhabi. You will work alongside other western expats to develop the teaching skills of teachers in this remote area of Abu Dhabi.
Highlights:
Why Abu Dhabi? Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven emirates making up the United Arab Emirates and constitutes nearly 80% of the nation's total land area including nearly 200 islands. The cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, are the two largest in the emirates. While Abu Dhabi city is a vibrant and captivating city with an impressive skyline, parks and gardens, luxury hotels, palatial villas and mansions, wide boulevards and beaches, Al Ain, the Garden City of the UAE, has an abundance of greenery with well-maintained parks and gardens. The oasis city, 148 kms from Abu Dhabi, also has a history dating back to 4 millennium BC. These posts are in the western zone which is more remote - there are shops and restaurants but no international schools. As the Capital of the UAE, this emirate is the centre of government and business life in the UAE. Abu Dhabi's oil wealth has been wisely utilized to encourage a healthy trade and commerce atmosphere, including those apart from oil industries. State-of-the-art communication services and transport, the presence of all the international luxury hotel chains, rich shopping malls, cultural centres and events have made the emirate a favourite destination for visitor and home to many nationalities.
Qualifications:
We recruit only qualified/certified teachers from the following countries: - United Kingdom - USA - Canada - Ireland - Australia - New Zealand - South Africa *Candidates must have at least 3 years of post qualification experience teaching Math at secondary/high school level. Because of the remote location, this is suitable for single teachers only as there are no international schools for dependent children in this area. Teachers must be fully trained to teach in state schools in one of these countries and possess full qualification/certification with teacher training such as a Bachelors or Masters of Education, PGCE, Higher Diploma in Education, etc. South African teachers with only a diploma of education will have very limited opportunities as most Ministries of Education require a Bachelors degree in Education, and do not like the word Diploma. Please note that these are not jobs teaching English as a foreign language and therefore a TEFL certificate and/or non-educational Bachelors degree alone is not enough. Due to the volume of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted but if you do not meet the above qualifications you will not be considered.
