Conversation Partner Ghana

Description: Tutor Groups in Conversational English up to 25 hours a week.

Volunteer 25 hours each week in Ghana in exchange for free room and board. Conversation Partners tutor groups of 3 to 15 people per class. There can be up to 3 classes for each tutor. Weekends are usually free for Conversation Partners to explore the area, local sites or travel. A comprehensive overnight orientation about Ghana is also included.

The Need: Volunteer 25 hours a week helping artisans, drivers, blue collar workers, traders and market women, farmers, etc with basic Conversational English in Accra and Environs. Tutors will live with local host families. Breakfast and dinner is provided.

Conversation Partner volunteers must be native English speakers. They need to have earned a high school (secondary school) diploma or certificate, and be in good health. Placements are available year 'round and range in duration from one to three months.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

* Sharing your language with the working adults for at least 25 hours a week on a schedule agreed to with your host institution.
* Using GeoVisions' Bag of Tricks, provide creative, fun and informative conversation sessions.
* Do not be late to tutor your group.
* Manage your own personal expenses (telephone bills, clothing, entertainment and spending money).
