Assistant Language Teacher in Japan Spring 2010

Length of Position: First Contract is up to 12 months - (Depending on Start Date) No Maximum Tenure

Description: Interac Japan is now recruiting overseas (USA & Canada, Australia & New Zealand, UK, Ireland, Mainland Europe, Jamaica and South Africa) and domestically (in Japan) Full Time Assistant Language Teachers work in Japanese public ES/JH/SH schools throughout Japan. Applicants must be able to commit to a one year contract. Previous ALT experience and Japanese language skills are preferred but not essential. Early applicants will be given preference on location and placement.

Based out of its Head Office in Tokyo and its eight branch offices located throughout Japan, Interac's staff of approximately 2000 ALTs are now working in the following locations in Japan:

Hokkaido, Akita, Niigata, Nagano, Iwate, Fukushima, Miyagi, Tochigi, Gunma, Hokkaido, Yamagata, Ibaraki, Chiba, Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Toyama, Aichi, Mie, Gifu, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Saga, Ehime, Shimane and Fukuoka

To be considered for a position, attendance at one of our overseas/ domestic seminar and interview sessions is compulsory. Our recruiters conduct presentations and interviews in various locations worldwide throughout the year. Interac serves hundreds of schools and Boards of Education throughout Japan by providing highly motivated and qualified Assistant Language Teachers to Elementary and Junior High schools in various locations throughout Japan.

Interac's Corporate clients include Japan's top tier firms, such as Honda, the Hitachi Group, the Mitsubishi Group and NEC. Interac also serves Japanese government organizations, such as JICA - Japan's International Co-operation Agency.

Interac has nine domestic branches and one overseas office that serve a client base of more than 4,000 organizations. Approximately 100 administrative staff (both Japanese and non-Japanese) are complemented by a rapidly expanding population of over 2000 native-speaking Assistant Language Teachers and Language Consultants of English and other languages.

Qualifications:
* Applicants must be a native/fluent speaker of English
* Possess a BA/BSc or similar
* Able to commit to duration of the contract. Subject to contract renewal, it may be possible to extend for a further year of employment.

Working hours are approximately forty hours per week, with a fixed, regular schedule between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday (no evening, weekend or public holiday shifts). Approximately 29 of the working hours are contact teaching hours, the remaining time is spent lesson planning and performing other administrative duties in the schools.

Positions are available in both Elementary School International and English language programs, and the rapidly expanding team-teaching assignments in Junior and Senior High School English classes.

For all positions, an attractive monthly salary (less national income taxes of approximately 7%), paid vacation entitlements (including all school vacation periods and public holidays), reimbursement of commuting expenses, subsidized health insurance, and free Japanese lessons (offered online) are on offer for qualified candidates. In addition, reimbursement of flights and financial assistance with housing is on offer to candidates that meet certain requirements.
